Opening a suspicious email is a critical mistake that users make. This was stated by the head of the analytical center Zecurion Vladimir Ulyanov.
The number of thefts from bank customers' accounts increased by 60% over the year
He noted that the letter may contain a link, clicking on which will lead to the fact that spyware will appear on the computer.
“If you suddenly accidentally open a letter, then delete it and forget about it. And of course, you should never enter into correspondence with fraudsters, ”the Moskva 24 TV channel quotes the specialist .
Ulyanov stressed that usually scammers buy a database with email addresses and send everyone the same letters, where they extort money for the non-proliferation of allegedly compromising information. The expert warned about psychological tricks used by attackers, and also noted that in 99% of cases, fraudsters bluff.
A day earlier, it became known that scammers began to use a new type of blackmail. Scammers disguised as the operator of Yandex.Money e-wallets are sending e-mails to victims asking them to send funds to the bitcoin wallet. If a person refuses to comply with the requirements, blackmail begins with a video allegedly compromising the person, which will be published on the Web.
