The social network Instagram reported that the application will be supplemented with a new function that will allow you to hide messages with offensive phrases. This is stated on Wednesday, April 21, in the blog of the social network.

At the same time, it is noted that this innovation can be disabled at the request of the user. The company also explained that the algorithm, when enabled, will automatically filter requests in the private messages of a social network member for the content of offensive words, as well as indecent emoticons.

"This tool is focused on requests for private messages, because this is where people usually receive abusive messages," - said on Instagram.

They clarified that such filtering will work according to a similar algorithm with comment filters under user posts.

The company said that at the moment the function is starting to be used in several countries, then in the coming months its availability will expand to Instagram members from more countries.

Earlier, on April 14, it became known that the social network is testing an innovation that will allow users to decide whether to leave other users' approval marks (likes) under their publications.

In February, it was reported that Instagram had tightened its policy on hate speech, so that the accounts of users who allowed them would now be deleted indefinitely.
